We revised Wikino's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and newly established the API Terms of Use.

Ahead of making features for using Wikino from programs and AI agents, such as the public API, Wikino CLI, and the remote MCP server, widely available, we set out the conditions for using the API as the API Terms of Use. At the same time, we rewrote the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy to reflect how Wikino works today and the applicable laws. In particular, the Privacy Policy still described handling that Wikino does not actually do (such as delivering advertisements and using information for marketing), so we rewrote it to match how we actually handle information.

Effective Dates and Previous Versions

Document Effective date Previous version
Terms of Service December 3, 2026 利用規約 (2025年1月1日版) (in Japanese)
API Terms of Use December 3, 2026 None (newly established)
Privacy Policy November 3, 2026 (took effect on publication) プライバシーポリシー (2025年5月17日版) (in Japanese)

Users do not need to take any action. If you do not agree to the revised documents, you can stop using Wikino by the effective date and leave it from the account deletion page (before leaving, you need to delete the spaces you have joined). If you do not agree to the API Terms of Use, stop using the API, revoke your personal access tokens, revoke the authorizations in Authorized apps (including MCP clients), and delete the OAuth apps you registered by the effective date.

Main Changes to the Terms of Service

  • When you use the Wikino API (including the remote MCP server), the newly established API Terms of Use apply in addition
  • The service agreement is concluded when you complete the registration procedure
  • We limited the condition for registration by minors to the consent of their legal representative
  • We revised the provision on managing passwords so that it also applies to other authentication information, such as two-factor authentication and tokens
  • We allow collecting information about other users only to the extent permitted by the API Terms of Use
  • We narrowed the scope in which we may use posted data to what is necessary to provide, improve, and introduce Wikino, and set out that it does not include training AI models
  • We narrowed the scope in which other users may use posted data to viewing, editing, and so on through the features of Wikino
  • We revised the scope of damages we compensate in line with the Consumer Contract Act
  • We set out the reasons for changing the Terms of Service, when we notify you, and your options if you do not agree
  • We set out how we contact and notify you, and included email and similar means in "writing"
  • We set out that you keep the rights given by the consumer protection laws of the country or region where you live
  • We removed provisions that do not apply to Wikino, such as the confidentiality provision, and rewrote the text to be easier to understand

What the API Terms of Use Set Out

  • The API Terms of Use also apply to the remote MCP server and to its use from MCP clients (such as Claude and ChatGPT)
  • Using the API is free of charge, and you can use it without individual permission, including for commercial purposes
  • Tokens and client secrets must be kept secret and must not be shared with others
  • Operations performed with a token, including those performed by AI agents, are treated as operations by the owner of the token
  • Use by AI agents is permitted, and we set out the responsibility for passing content to external AI services
  • We set out the scope in which you may handle pages and member information obtained through the API
  • We set out what creators of OAuth apps must comply with
  • We set out the display of the Wikino name and logo, rate limits, and prohibited acts
  • When we stop providing a version of the API, we will announce it at least one year in advance

Main Changes to the Privacy Policy

  • We rewrote the information we handle and the utilization purposes to reflect how we actually handle them
  • We removed the delivery of advertisements, analysis for the purpose of provision to third parties, and use for marketing from the utilization purposes
  • We removed the provisions on provision to third parties by the opt-out method and on obtaining information through integration with external services
  • We stated that we do not use posted content to train AI models
  • We explained the scope of information made public on Wikino, such as pages in public topics
  • We set out the information provided through the public API and the remote MCP server to OAuth apps and MCP clients you have authorized, and how to revoke the authorization
  • We specified the external services we use and the countries where information is stored, and the information your browser transmits to outside parties
  • We set out how we handle logs and our security control action
  • We set out how to make a demand for disclosure, etc., how we verify your identity, and the fees
  • We rewrote the information we delete and the information that remains for a certain period when you leave Wikino, to reflect how we actually handle it
  • We set out that we provide our address upon request
  • We changed how we notify you when we change the Privacy Policy

The Japanese versions of the three documents (利用規約, API利用規約, and プライバシーポリシー) are the originals. The English versions are translations, and if there is any discrepancy, the Japanese versions prevail.
